Solid Waste Reduction:
All students, grade ninth through twelfth recycle ink cartridges, pack them into boxes and send them to the Funding Factory. This project started four years ago and will continue well into the future.
In order to reduce waste, at the end of the breakfast and lunch periods, all students, grades ninth through twelfth volunteer to collect compostable scraps on a tray and deposited it in a compost bin outside. Students monitor the compost bin. This school year 2013 ,our students are provided with fruits/ vegetables daily and they collect scraps from breakfast and lunch. Students and staff also brought in kitchen scraps from home . Students are able to make their carbon foot print smaller by actively reducing waste to increase the compost supply by taking scraps outside for garden fertilization.
All students in social studies grades ninth through twelfth participated in making posters to remind people about the importance of recycling. The mounted their posters in the eating area. This project took place in the spring of 2013. Students also participated in a recycling contest.
