Energy project 2014-
The green team at George W. F. McMechen plans to record the energy reduction within the school by assigning students to monitor the lights. The school will also acquire additional surge protectors for computers and copiers and the students will monitor the energy usage of these electronics. The Green team was awarded an Energy Challenge grant from the Baltimore Energy Challenge and has already started learning about energy conservation when they took a fieldtrip to the Science Center's new exhibit about Energy.
The school is also an Energy Competition School and has been reducing its energy use though student led actions like turning off lights and participating in Power Down Fridays.
