Habitat Restoration:
Students planted a native tree of Maryland in the spring of 2011. Students in grades ninth through twelfth participate in gardening activities. Forty- five students continue to maintain it by watering and mulching the Red Bud tree at the beginning of the spring season. Students are planting crocus bulbs.

The Butterfly garden was in stalled in the Spring of 2011 by the Irvine Nature Center in celebration of Earth Day. Every student in the school participates in maintaining the Butterfly garden. Students maintain the garden by watering , mulching, adding compost and every year annuals are added to provide fresh habitat for the butterflies.
Starting in 2011, until the present, students in grades nine though twelve have been removing invasive weeds from the Butterfly garden in the spring of every year.
